AT A POINT, YOU ARE MISERABLE NOT PETTY.

3:13:00 PM

Petty. It seems to be a word that dominates every social media platform on the Internet.Especially Snapchat. Oh yes, Snapchat. But here's the thing, being petty isn't cute. It isn't funny, it isn't unique or powerful. It's immature and rude and frankly, annoying. And you wanna know what makes all of this even worse? We don’t only act petty, we glorify it.
We publicize stupid arguments with our friends to gain sympathy and in turn, taking a simple misunderstanding and blowing it way out of proportion. And when we do this, we get congratulated. People think you’re so funny and so clever, when really you’re just petty.
And now you’re sitting there like, yasss, I am petty, is that a problem? Because for some reason our society is so messed up that it’s talked you up to think that the way you’re handling your problems is brilliant.

Every time I see a  post that’s obviously about someone, I just think that you’re so immature, to the point that you don’t even know how to talk to someone when you have a problem. And that’s not funny, it makes you a coward, and it’s sad. Here’s the thing, pettiness never actually solves anything. In every case that I’ve ever seen, it just takes a miscommunication between two people and turns it into a long drawn out process where in the end, you both end up hating each other more than before. Personally, I'm not perfect. There are some times, I rather not say anything than confront the person only because I do not want to over react. A friend of mine once described me as a "burning wood". So sometimes I choose not to talk. And if I can,I'd talk. But I'd not go to the internet to talk shit about someone especially if it's someone I'm close to. Worst comes to worst, I write a quote trying to make myself feel better. That always works for me.
If you see a post of mine and you think I'm referring to you, best believe I'm not. It's either I tell you or you wouldn't know. I'm not here to tell you I haven't done it before. Been there, done that.
I don’t know why our generation has become so obsessed with being petty, but I can promise you that if you ever want to really solve your problems, the best way to do it is to be straightforward and talk it out.We need to love each other and push each other to be the best we can be, and the only way we can do that is by facing our differences and working it out the old fashioned way, like kindergarten, except now there isn't a teacher there telling you to hug yourselves .
I’m really tired of scrolling through my Snap and seeing people bragging about being petty. It’s one thing to be petty in certain situations because I don’t know your life. Maybe the person you’re being petty towards deserves it because they’re annoying and low-key trying to ruin your life. But nine times out of ten, you’re just being dumb if you think being petty is cute and funny and the right thing to do. You're funny if you think that the person you're tweeting about or being petty towards is even being affected.
So maybe next time put on your big girl panties, stop low key cyberbullying people, act like an adult, and take the high road. You can also do what I do when I feel the need to act petty which is to text my friends instead of looking like a childish jerk on the Internet for the entire world to see.
So to end this on a positive note, let's all try to remember that being nice and being forgiving is healthy. Don't hold grudges because it's just mentally and spiritually unhealthy. So stop thinking the world owes you something and maybe go and do something productive. I promise it will make you feel better.
We are all just trying to get by in this world, we're all trying to be the best versions of ourselves. How  ridiculous is it to call someone out  every time someone does something you don't like? It's called getting over it. It's called learning to talk things out and make an effort to make amends with people. Aren't you tired carrying around all of that anger? I mean when it comes down to it, the only person you're hurting by acting petty is yourself.
So please, from one member of this millennium age to another, can we all just grow up?
